Collingwood College Accommodation

Collingwood College is one of the most modern of all Durham University’s colleges and offers all the essential amenities for any event, from international conferences for hundreds of delegates to group trips exploring the riches of the area.

The College’s facilities include the purpose-built Penthouse Suite, the ideal venue for conferences, meetings and training courses, which is available for events all year round.

Collingwood Bedroom

The Penthouse suite can accommodate 180 delegates and is easily adapted, with the option of additional rooms being made available. There is also the Dales Suite, which is suitable for an additional 50 people, plus various smaller meeting and seminar rooms throughout the College.

The high standard of accommodation available at the College justifies its three diamond rating from the English Tourism Council, and includes 200 rooms with full en-suite amenities, each with a private shower, toilet, washbasin and tea/coffee-making facilities. Sixteen of these rooms are designed for twin occupancy, with two designed for wheelchair users. In addition to the en-suite rooms there are over 300 single standard rooms, all are comfortably furnished and include a washbasin. Easy access is available to the showers and toilets on each floor, and kitchenettes with microwaves are also available for guests’ convenience.

The College places great emphasis on dining and is proud of its reputation for excellent cuisine. The choices available for dining and banqueting are extensive and adaptable including the main dining hall which can seat up to 300 guests, the Penthouse Suite which is suitable for up to 120 and various other smaller, more intimate options. Our chef can create menus tailored to your every need and will happily cater for any special diets; or you can choose from one of our set menus. There is also a spacious, fully stocked bar and extensive wine cellar available for all guests.

There are many other facilities and services available to ensure that your event is an enjoyable and successful experience. When it’s time to relax you can enjoy a game of tennis on the allweather court, which doubles as a five-aside pitch, or play a game of croquet on the College’s lawn while making the most of the dedicated barbecue area. There is also a games room with a pool table, Sky television and a darts board.

Collingwood has a dedicated team that will closely consult with you to ensure that the venue is tailored to meet your needs. As well as the accommodation and facilities listed we can also incorporate other venues in and around Durham University. That means you can enjoy the choice of other colleges as well as the lecture theatres at our central facilities nearby.
